Tower Hamlets Council of UK willing to invest in Sylhet region |

Dhaka--(UNB) - Tower Hamlets Council of UK is willing to invest in health, environment and industrial projects in Sylhet region. A visiting delegation of the council, led by Councilor Kumar Murshid, gave the indication when they called on Finance Minister SAMS Kibria at his office here yesterday. Assuring allout government cooperation in this regard, the Finance Minister thanked the members of the delegation for their noble gesture. He said child mortality rate is higher in Sylhet region as it lags behind in education, healthcare and immunization programmes compared to other parts of the country. The minister told the delegation that the prospect of IT and agro-processing industries is bright in Bangladesh and hoped that the expatriate Bangladeshis can play an important role in flourishing the sectors by linking those with the international market. Describing the existing facilities for setting up of small and medium-scale industries in Bangladesh, the minister said the government would extend all-out cooperation to these sectors. Other members of the delegation were Council Mayor Saiful Alam, Golam Murtaza, David Richardson Andrew Bramage. |
